One Wednesday, when on my way to a bus which would take me to town, I was suddenly attacked by a swarm of bees. My thought turned at once to God. I dropped everything I was carrying—my hat, coat, pocketbook, and a big bag. They all landed in a puddle of muddy water. I wanted to have my hands free to defend myself, but defense proved impossible. The bees began to crawl up my body under my clothes. Then I stood still and did nothing but fill my consciousness with the one thought, "God is my Life." Suddenly all the bees disappeared.

I picked up my belongings, wiped them off, and continued on my way. After boarding the bus, I looked into a mirror and discovered large swellings and redness on my face, as well as on my legs, arms, and neck. I did not feel well either. My whole body was affected.

I cannot say that at any time I had been afraid, but I had experienced an indescribable feeling of discomfort when I felt the bees crawling up under my clothes, and the thought came to me that it might be dangerous— perhaps fatal—to be stung by bees in large numbers. This suggestion I rejected with the truth that God is my Life.
