About three years ago, while working at my trade as a carpenter, I stepped over the edge of the roof of an apartment building porch which was approximately thirty feet high. As I felt myself falling, I thought, "I'm in God's hands." Then I blacked out. When I came to, I was surrounded by a group of anxious bystanders. I said that I wanted to call a Christian Science practitioner, but no one would listen to me.

Finally, to comply with company procedure, I consented to be taken to the hospital for X rays. By this time, my wife had been notified, and she immediately called a practitioner, who assured her that there are no accidents in divine Mind and that man is always perfect. He encouraged us to hold to these truths.

I was told by the doctor that the X rays showed a cracked spinal vertebra and a break in the left forearm that should be set immediately. I refused to have this done and realized then I must take my stand and rely completely on God's healing power.
