Positive proof of the healing efficacy...

Positive proof of the healing efficacy of Christian Science came to me as the result of an experience which I had sometime ago. It was revealed to me that the discordant physical situation was a mortal belief.

Mrs. Eddy writes in "The People's Idea of God" (p. 12), "The only law of sickness or death is a law of mortal belief, an infringement on the merciful and just government of God." She says later in the same paragraph, "Deal, then, with this fabulous law as with an inhuman State law; repeal it in mind, and acknowledge only God in all thy ways,—'who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases.'"

I was spending a few days with my daughter and her family during the Christmas season. In helping during the morning of Christmas Day with the usual household chores, I evidently tore a ligament in one of my legs. The pain was such that I found myself unable to move about without severe suffering. I sat quietly while the gifts were being passed around, feeling quite fearful; and I was astonished that such a small thine could seem so important and mar an otherwise happy occasion.
