Christian Science came into our home when it was very much needed. My brother had passed on a few days after an operation, and I was told that I too must undergo a similar one. I did not know how I would avoid it, but I knew that I could not put my family through the strain of such an ordeal.

I had been searching for a long time for a better understanding of God; and although I believed in God with all my heart, I could not understand what Jesus' life had to do with mine. The healing works he did so long ago were interesting, but how could they help me? I wanted so much to know. So I lay on my bed and said over and over again, "Father, tell me the truth."
