RADIO PROGRAM No. 191 - What Is the Purpose of Church?

QUESTIONER: The concept of church has come to mean many different things to many different people. In some ways it seems easier to ask the question, What is the purpose of church? than it is to give the answer. How would you define the purpose of church?

SPEAKER: I'd say a basic purpose of church is to help the individual grow, help him become a better person, help him discover who he really is. In other words, help him discover what it really means to be the son of God.

It's easy to think of church simply as a building, as an institution outside the individual, a place to go to on Sundays. But I'm sure that most people would agree there's much more to church than a building. When you look at church from the highest standpoint, from the spiritual standpoint, you see that Church comes forth from God to bless all mankind.
