"Home is the dearest spot on earth"

Most young people want to establish a home of their own, and they would like it to be permanent —like the house Christ Jesus spoke of which was built on a rock (see Matt. 7:24). Such a desire involves more than good intentions, important as these are. The rock on which it must be built is the integrity which makes possible wise decisions and sound commitments.

Moral and spiritual values are of primary concern. Mutual compromises made in the spirit of goodwill enable willing couples to work together toward a common goal. Standards of conduct, established and maintained, strengthen home ties, for every successful marriage requires intelligent cooperation and a desire to keep the relationship in good repair. Such effort brings out the best there is in both parties and enables them to weather the storms that would cause a home built on a less solid foundation to fall.

Any successful human institution makes demands upon the individuals involved, demands that bind them together for a common good. Marriage is no exception. Christian Science helps married couples to fulfill these demands. It helps young people—and older ones too—to enrich their lives by bringing them into accord with divine Principle, from which all constructive demands emanate.
