The desert Shall...blossom as the rose (Isa. 35 : 1)
Commentators observe that while roses (in the familiar sense of the word) do indeed grow in Palestine the Hebrew word rendered "rose" at this point has reference to some kind of bulbous flower; in all probability, either the narcissus or the crocus. In the Holy Land such flowers bloom in profusion in the early spring, springing up in tracts of country which, before the spring rains, appear barren and almost desert.
It shall be called The way of holiness; the unclean shall not pass over it; but it shall be for those (Isa. 35:8)
