RADIO PROGRAM No. 128 - A Fresh View of Intelligence

INTERVIEWER: In Harper's Magazine sometime ago John Fischer noted that in many cases the problems of young people, such as failure in school and delinquency, can be traced to an apparent lack of intelligence. He said of school dropouts, "Most leave school, not because of economic problems, but because they can't keep up with the not-very-demanding work." He went on to say that the kind of society we now have demands a relatively high degree of intelligence.

You know, the very word "intelligence" tends to make many young people and their parents feel uneasy. They think some people may-have enough of it but others do not.

SPEAKER: A fresh view of intelligence is what is needed. Intelligence is not just getting a top grade on an examination, for instance. Intelligence is natural, normal, unlimited available to everybody.
