Awakening in the mountains...

Awakening in the mountains one morning to the glorious sounds of birds and a running brook, I was startled with this mental question, "How much of God's goodness are you willing to receive today?" I answered quickly, "Why, everything He is willing to give me." Then I realized that God has already given man everything and that it is good, as stated in Genesis (1:31), "God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good."

This particular day had all the promises of being a big day in my life. I had studied long and faithfully for a musical career, and today I was to play for a man who through his influence could be of great help in establishing my career and, in particular, in securing a concert performance in a prominent city for an outstanding institution.

In all the arts the beginning is the most difficult. Promoters demand experience, so where is the young artist to go to get this experience? The very opportunity to play for this man was a demonstration in itself. I had been seeking an opportunity to play for him for a year and a half, with no success. All the time I was applying the truths as taught in Christian Science.
