Hon. Matthew B. Dymond, M.D.
Health Minister for Ontario

One of the commonest feelings experienced by the mentally ill person is that he is unworthy of the love and care of other people, and that he is unworthy of the love of God. Many of them feel that life is meaningless and without purpose. Consequently, they feel defeated and hopeless, and that it isn't worth the effort to endure the disappointments and hard knocks of life.
Because of this, it is important that during treatment, patients discover that life is worthwhile and that they have something valuable to contribute to the community and to the world in which they live. A patient must learn that in the creative purpose of God, he is a person of utmost value and importance.
