Manliness
It is natural for boys and young men to strive for the qualities of manliness. They wish to think and act like mature men and leave behind the characteristics of childhood. For these maturing people, Christian Science is a reliable guide in pointing the way to true manliness.
Before we can have a proper standard for manliness, or any other quality in our lives, we must face up to the claim of the carnal mind that we are mortals. We must recognize that the allness of God precludes the possibility of there being any matter, hence any mortal. Mrs. Eddy writes in Science and Health (p. 278), "Science reveals nothing in Spirit out of which to create matter." So matter, of which a mortal is supposed to be made, has no origin in Spirit, the All-in-all.
In the Bible we read (Gen. 1: 26), "God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness." Since man is the image of God, it follows that an individual is genuinely manly only to the extent that he expresses Godlike qualities.
