"Good tidings of great joy"
Who has not thrilled at the reception of good news? It rejoices the heart, fulfills patient hope, and opens the springs of gratitude. It refreshes, happifies, and inspires.
The best news of all is always available. It is not something that has to be waited for, that will come only at some future time. It is here and now. It has already arrived. It is the joyous assurance of man's eternal existence in the loving care and protection of his Father, God. This glad news, which is always available because always true and present, is constantly being received by those who listen for it. The divine Mind is always active, and it is constantly sending forth the glad message of man's inseparability from this Mind.
In this world of fast-breaking historical events, there often seems to be a paucity of good news. Newspaper headlines, radio broadcasts, and television programs sometimes give the impression that evil is more prevalent and powerful than good and that man is helpless in the face of malignant forces.
