Would You Be a Practitioner?

There may be something about my experience in entering the practice of Christian Science that will be of help to someone who is seriously considering such a step.

While I was serving as First Reader in a Christian Science Society, a man who had just begun to attend our services asked me to help him. His complete and comparatively quick healing of a disease that had not previously yielded to medical or surgical treatment made a deep impression upon me. As a result, I reached the conclusion that there was nothing I would rather do than to devote full time to the healing work. But how it would be possible for me to do this was beyond me.

The one thing I could do was to cherish the desire daily and trust God, divine Mind, to unfold whatever steps were needed to bring it about. As I nurtured this desire in prayer, I saw clearly that one who would enter the practice of Christian Science must have an unshakable conviction that Christian Science is of God. When I understood this fundamental point, the transition from business to the practice was orderly and harmonious for all concerned.
