RADIO PROGRAM NO. 68 - Overcoming Discord at Home and at Work

Host: Men and women of good-will in all faiths are trying to prevent the tragic waste that results from bitterness and strife. Sometimes discord in human relationships can be traced to quite minor differences that were allowed to smolder and grow out of control. The pettiness of such discord is brought out in a book called, "Your Sense of Humor." Its author, Julius Gordon, says: "I daresay that if we could examine the origins of our antagonisms and antipathies, we would be infinitely amused. In most cause we would find that the original cause of the enmity we cherish was trivial and insignificant." [Didier, Publishers, New York. Copyright, 1950.]

SPEAKER: Much of the enmity that tears at families and offices and nations is trivial in nature. Of course, there's also strife that goes back to more basic issues. But I'm sure that in either case a sense of humor would help everyone concerned. But I wouldn't want to trust one human mood, such as a sense of humor, to root out another human mood, such as enmity or bitterness. We need to rely on something far more reliable and powerful for real solution to discord.

HOST: How would you go about getting rid of discord?
