LOVE, NOT VENGEANCE

When in the Adam-dream I see
Injustice victimizing me,
And vengeance, in the garb of right,
Would neutralize my woeful plight
Yet trail a burden of dismay
No sentient courage can allay;

Should I then strive to lay aside
Thoughts of self-love, self-pity, pride,
To see God as man's only Mind,
Forever peaceful, just, and kind,
All hurtful feelings will be quelled,
As thoughts of wrong are first dispelled.
