The Pennsylvania Supreme Court.... decided that an "act of God" is no longer available as an acceptable defense in civil damage cases in the state stemming from storms, heavy rains and other natural disasters.

In what was believed an unprecedented action, the high court upheld [an] award...for ...damage suffered...when a snow-laden telephone pole fell onto [an] automobile.
