I feel that the purpose of this testimony is best expressed in the words of the Psalmist to God. It is (Ps. 26:7), "That I may publish with the voice of thanksgiving, and tell of all thy wondrous works."

During the years of economic depression I was like the woman mentioned in the Bible who "had suffered many things of many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse" (Mark 5:26). According to medical diagnosis I had gallstones, another internal condition needing surgical attention, an inward goiter, and an extremely nervous condition affecting my entire system.

In 1934 I visited a world-famous clinic. The reports of the doctors there stated that unless I learned to relax, since I was experiencing a nervous breakdown, I could never overcome the many infirmities plaguing me. My husband and I accepted an invitation from relatives to visit them in California and get away from the demands of home and family. After three months, there was no improvement in my condition. I returned home and was in and out of bed for a seemingly endless number of months.
