Christian Science was presented...
Christian Science was presented to me in 1929 when every material remedy had failed to restore me to health and two doctors had said that nothing more could be done to help me, since a bone disease had become crucial and septicemia had set in.
At this point in desperation my husband called a Christian Science practitioner. I asked to lie discharged from the hospital to which I had been taken, and consecrated work on the part of the practitioner was begun. At this time I knew nothing of Christian Science; but I felt at once the healing influence of the Christ, and my fear began to abate.
The practitioner visited me and read from the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and as soon as I was able to do so I continued studying on my own. As I earnestly and prayerfully studied the textbook, I gradually gained a better understanding of my true selfhood in the image and likeness of God. Eventually I felt I should take my stand for Science, strengthened by the many wonderful truths of man I had gained from my study. Then, although this was the first time I had done such a thing for two years, I rose from my bed one happy day and walked about the room unassisted.
