One of our babies was born with a large birthmark which surrounded her eye and covered one side of her face. The doctor in attendance was gravely concerned, but the nurse, who was a devout student of Christian Science, was quite unperturbed and inspired me with her confidence and fearlessness. A Christian Science practitioner was informed at once, and as a result of her prayerful work, the disfiguring mark gradually faded, and in a few days there was not a trace of it.

Our two children were protected from most of the so-called children's diseases, and the few that appeared were very quickly healed through the spiritual prayer and understanding of a consecrated practitioner. The elder child was once stung on the foot by a bee, but the pain and the effects of the sting vanished so quickly that in a very short time she put on her shoes and ran out to play.

At another time the younger child inadvertently disturbed a nest of wasps, several of which flew into her hair and stung her head. Her cries of pain and distress attracted the attention of her grandparents, who lovingly suggested the application of a material remedy. This added to the child's dismay, because she had been brought up in the teachings of Christian Science and was a faithful pupil in a Christian Science Sunday School, where she was learning to rely on God for healing. So I took her into the greenhouse and expressed a desire to be left alone with her.
