By means of this testimony I wish...

By means of this testimony I wish to pay tribute to our revered Leader for the moral courage, the perseverance, and the love which she demonstrated in giving us this panacea, Christian Science. And I acknowledge the helpful work of a consecrated practitioner, to whom I express my very deep gratitude.

When I was first interested in Christian Science my mother had a beautiful healing of a stomach ulcer. Some two years later she had a severe cold and cough. Everyone around her advised material remedies, but she preferred to have Christian Science treatment. On the way to see the practitioner who had helped her so much we had to take a taxi. Mother had such violent attacks of coughing that she could hardly breathe; furthermore, we were beginning to attract the attention of passersby.

The practitioner spoke to us of the inspiration of Truth and Love, which is never obstructed. She told Mother to study the healing by Mrs. Eddy of a woman who was suffering from consumption and had difficulty in breathing when the wind was in a certain direction. The account is found on pages 184 and 185 of Science and Health, and Mrs. Eddy writes there, "The wind had not changed, but her thought of it had and so her difficulty in breathing had gone."
