I did not come into Christian Science...
I did not come into Christian Science for healing. My parents became interested through my father's sisters, who encouraged him to take up Science because he was gradually going blind. He had had various treatments from specialists, but his eyesight grew no better. It was at this stage that he took up the study of Christian Science, and with the help that Mother was able to give him through reading to him from Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy and through their daily study of the Lesson-Sermons, provided in the Quarterly, he received his healing and was able to carry on his work as an official in a large manufacturing company.
I am grateful that this led me to change my Sunday School affiliation from an orthodox one to a Christian Science one. Later I joined The Mother Church and a branch church.
Around 1925 I was healed of jaundice in one treatment through the help of a practitioner. I did not feel ill for one minute, though the evidence of the disease was pronounced. I have also been healed of coughs and colds which plagued me every winter. But the outstanding healing occurred in the middle of the fifties when my wife and I were on a vacation at a summer resort in Michigan. Previous to this, I had been suffering from a chronic stomach ailment, and when we were at the above resort, it became very severe. We were able to get in touch with a practitioner some distance away; and almost instantaneously the severe pain left me, and we were able to stay on through the balance of our vacation. The condition has not returned.
