Christian Science was introduced...
Christian Science was introduced to me in 1923 by a friend of my husband's when we came to the United States. I had never heard of this religion before.
The explanation sounded beautiful but impossible to me, and I simply could not accept it fully. Yet, our having two daughters meant that little problems presented themselves off and on, and when I called on a Christian Science practitioner to whom I had been introduced, I always found help and comfort.
In 1937 my husband and I lost a good deal of what we possessed, and shortly afterward he passed on very suddenly. My sorrow was great not only because of the loss of my husband but because the future looked very dark. My sister asked me whether I wanted her to call the practitioner to ask for his help, but I said, "No, he can't do anything for me now."
