Weight Control
God is man's Life. Man is God's image. As we understand this we see that what mortal sense normally terms life is not truly Life at all. It is a counterfeit which appears to exist in a material body although it does not. Since God, Spirit, is the only Life, there can be no life in matter, and material conditions cannot affect man.
Christian Science teaches the application of this truth to all problems. When understood, it can be applied to the problem of weight control. There is, however, a requirement which must be fulfilled before the truth applicable to this problem can be understood. Christ Jesus expressed it in these words: "Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on" (Matt. 6:25).
Jesus' teachings make it plain that he intended us to devote our thought to divine Life, to God. Christian Scientists do not neglect the human body. A normal healthy body is the natural result of thought concerned with expressing divine Life.
