GRATITUDE
In
moments when I seem to be
The victim of despondency
Or pain or agonizing fear, Bereft of all I hold most dear,
Without a gleam of inward light
To dissipate the gloom of night;
If then I give my gratitude
For all the blessings, all the good
Which I inherit as God's child,
My heart with joy will be so filled
That evil thoughts will pass away,
As darkness is dispelled by day.
