I am more grateful than words...

I am more grateful than words can fully express that Christian Science was presented to me over forty years ago. I never questioned its authenticity as the revelation of Truth to this age by its Discoverer and Founder, Mrs. Eddy. I am thankful to God for this, because it was one less obstacle to be overcome. During this period I have had quick healings of colds and coughs that before I knew of Science sometimes lasted for weeks. Yearly attacks of intestinal influenza, as well as recurring headaches, ceased.

Some time ago I began suffering from a painful condition in my right shoulder which, according to the symptoms, I believe was bursitis. Since having class instruction, which is truly a wonderful experience, I had been able to solve any problem that presented itself. So I prayed diligently for some time, but when the condition was no better I followed Mrs. Eddy's instruction on page 420 of Science and Health. She says there, "If students do not readily heal themselves, they should early call an experienced Christian Scientist to aid them."

One of the references given me by the practitioner to study is on page 160 of "The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany" by Mrs. Eddy and reads: "The trenchant truth that cuts its way through iron and sod, most men avoid until compelled to glance at it. Then they open their hearts to it for actual being, health, holiness, and immortality." The word "trenchant" means "incisive; penetrating; sharply clear."
