I should like to share an experience...
I should like to share an experience as a result of which I have been greatly blessed. About two years ago I was washing clothes around eight o'clock one evening when one hand became tangled in a garment and passed through the wringer, which was tightly screwed down. With the prayer, "Help me, Father," I was able to reach around with the other hand and to spring the release lever, which freed me.
I determined to keep my hand out of sight as much as possible and to finish hanging up the clothes; this required another ten minutes. However, I caught sight of an ugly blotch on the hand and was suffering from a nervous reaction and from a stinging sensation as though the flesh were open. When I had finished I wrapped the hand lightly in a large handkerchief, knelt down beside my bed, and tried to pray.
The mocking suggestion came, "You can't demonstrate Christian Science."
