"Spiritual and profound pathology"
A human sense of existence is centered in corporeality. It is no wonder, then, that the human body is the source of so much anxious attention. Theories regarding its functioning change as human thought changes, and it is quite generally recognized that changed thought has its effect upon bodily functions. But how much? More, perhaps, than we realize.
For almost a century Christian Science has been healing diseased conditions of the body through spiritual means. In these healings human thought is changed to some extent from a material to a spiritual basis. This healing process is clearly explained in Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, and successful Christian Science practitioners—including some who were formerly medical doctors and nurses—have found that this process turns human thought from matter to Spirit and therefore has a favorable effect on the body as well as on the mind.
In Science and Health we read (p. 157), "Christian Science impresses the entire corporeality,—namely, mind and body,—and brings out the proof that Life is continuous and harmonious." And Mrs. Eddy adds: "Science both neutralizes error and destroys it. Mankind is the better for this spiritual and profound pathology."
