I began to study Science in 1918...
I began to study Science in 1918 after an attack of influenza had left me with pleurisy, which two doctors had been unable to cure. I asked a friend if Christian Science could help me. She assured me it could and called a practitioner to ask for treatment for me. I was healed in a very short time.
At one time I sprained my ankle and had to be helped into the house. But the next morning it was completely healed as a result of my application of the truths of Science. My daughter was healed of a serious case of poliomyelitis. She was also healed in Christian Science of an infected ear and of rheumatism.
At one time during the Second World War we had trouble finding a house. We spent many hours looking; then one day I realized that we were relying on human means alone in our search and must turn to God and gain an understanding of the true sense of home. I began right away to pray about the situation. We were staying with my brother, which meant a thirty-mile drive to and from our work. When we reached home that night my brother told us that he had just learned about a house which was for rent. We were able to rent it.
