The Normal class of the Board of Education was held early in December. In compliance with the By-Law, Article XXX, Section 1, of the Manual of The Mother Church by Mary Baker Eddy, this class convenes on the first Wednesday of December in each third year.

The teacher of the 1961 class was Paul Stark Seeley, C. S. B., of Portland, Oregon. Mr. Seeley has served the movement in many capacities, including those of Committee on Publication for Oregon, President of The Mother Church, Associate Editor of The Christian Science Journal, the Christian Science Sentinel, and The Herald of Christian Science in its several editions, as well as a member of The Christian Science Board of Lectureship. He has had long experience as a practitioner and teacher of Christian Science.

The class was composed of pupils of twenty-four different teachers and, in accordance with the provisions of the Manual, numbered thirty, who came from Australia, Canada, Chile, England, Indonesia, and South Africa, and from the following states: California, Colorado, Ceorgia, Illinois, Indiana, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New York, Oregon, Texas, and Washington.
