I should like to express my gratitude...

I should like to express my gratitude for Christian Science and its healing efficacy. About six years ago I awoke one morning feeling extremely ill. Having planned to fly from one state to another at noon on business, I immediately called a Christian Science practitioner for treatment. The condition grew worse as my departure time approached; but, informing the practitioner of this and asking for further treatment, I went on my way.

The symptoms, which would probably have been diagnosed as those of pneumonia, continued the next day at the meeting, although the Christian Science treatment I was receiving brought some abatement. I was ill all night, and it was impossible for me to think constructively until about five thirty in the morning; then I began to realize that soon the committee would be expecting me, so something had to be done.

I reasoned that the committee had gone to great expense to have my services and had a right to them. I knew too that it would be almost impossible to get a replacement for me by nine o'clock in the morning. I myself felt entitled to expect to be able to do the work. But this line of thought brought no alleviation; so I called the practitioner in the city I had left. She discerned my serious need and again took up the prayerful work.
