Ever since I was a girl of eight,...
Ever since I was a girl of eight, I have had the advantage of having Christian Science to turn to in time of need. However, until a few years ago I think I was unaware of the fact that I took this beloved religion for granted. It never occurred to me that I owed a debt of gratitude to this Christ Science, which was supporting me whenever I called upon it.
I was not only indulging in but enjoying the smoking habit, moderate social drinking, and many material pleasures. The greater my attraction to worldliness, the further away from Science I wandered. My lukewarm desire for church membership was rapidly disappearing.
Then the time came a few years ago when I had no close relative upon whom to depend for comfort and understanding, and I was forced to the point of having to decide which way I wanted to turn. Because of my inability to make the decision, I was unhappy, depressed, and almost desperate. In a very dark moment I asked God to direct me. Shortly afterward, I met a Christian Science practitioner. One day I asked her if I might visit her and receive help through Christian Science treatment.
