WORDS OF CURRENT INTEREST
[The words in this issue are related to the Lesson-Sermon in the Christian Science Quarterly designated to be read in Christian Science churches on December 17, 1961.]
Heap (Ps. 33:7)
In Hebrew, as is well known, the consonants alone were originally written down, and the meaning varies with the vowels added centuries later. Thus in this verse we can read either NeTH (heap) or NoTH meaning "water-skin or flask." The Septuagint Version brings out the latter meaning, and Moffatt has, "He holds the seas as in a water-skin."
