If my brother's steps move faster
heavenward than mine,
if he quicker grasps the light
and brighter lets it shine,
what is that to me, O Master,
and what should it be
if I strive with all my might
to love and follow thee?

Peter's rugged way is mine:
John's I am denied!
Let me graciously resign,
travel satisfied!
