About ten years ago an inharmonious human relationship resulted in a separation which caused me a great amount of distress. I was also involved in a serious financial situation and was filled with anxiety, self-pity, and hatred. I was on a rigid diet for a gall bladder condition and was suffering from migraine, insomnia, and a nervous disorder which caused loss of hair. In addition, a retail business in which I had an interest and which had been successful for a few years suddenly began to fail. I was left without funds or friends.

I then turned wholeheartedly to God and asked to be shown a way out of my difficulties. The thought came to me, "Try Christian Science." I visited a Christian Science practitioner. He patiently listened to all my troubles and then said, "Man's extremity is God's opportunity." I felt the power of Truth as the practitioner read from the textbook by Mrs. Eddy, for the weight of my burdens was lifting. I borrowed the textbook from a Christian Science Reading Room and commenced a diligent study of it. That night I slept normally for the first time in many months and have not suffered again from insomnia.

During the days that followed I was absorbed in studying the Bible and Christian Science literature. I began to attend Christian Science church services and forgot the use of my medical prescription and diet. Healings of the gall bladder condition, the migraine, the nervous disorder, and social drinking took place. The retail business was sold, and the proceeds were sufficient to meet my indebtedness.
