Membership Meetings and Resultant Fruitage

Our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, writes in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 199), "The devotion of thought to an honest achievement makes the achievement possible."

Many branch churches and societies have brought about marked improvement in their Sunday Schools by holding occasional inspirational membership meetings. These are called for the purpose not only of acquainting the members with the Sunday School activity, but also of rousing them to the necessity of devoting prayerful thinking to this integral part of church. The purposes of these meetings, therefore, can best be achieved by having only church members participate.

It is important that the members understand that the responsibility for the welfare of the Sunday School rests not alone with the teachers and officers, but with the parents and with the entire church membership. When the Sunday School has the metaphysical support of the members, it progresses, and its every need is met, whether it be for better or more regular and punctual attendance, for enlarged Sunday School facilities, or for some other phase of the work.
