Christian Science was presented to me through some authorized literature, given to me by a Christian Science practitioner. At that time I was very sick with what the doctors diagnosed as an ulcerated stomach. I read this literature, but did not understand what I was reading. While at work one Sunday the condition became aggravated, and I was overcome with fear. I had a two-hour lunch period and went home, but could not eat anything.

Returning to work I began to feel worse and did not know what to do. Then the thought came to me to telephone the practitioner and thank her for the literature she had given to me. I do not know of any other time when I have felt so meek, humble, and grateful as I did then. I do not remember all she said to me, but I do remember her saying that God is the only power.

After our conversation I was so uplifted and inspired that the fear was lessened, and I felt great relief. I returned to my home, and the first thing I did was to throw away all medicines. I ate a hearty meal and enjoyed it. I was healed.
