Signs of the Times

The Reverend James DeForest Murch in The Cincinnati Enquirer Cincinnati, Ohio

Everybody wants security. The advertisements we read in our newspapers and magazines promise it; all you have to do is clip a coupon and you will be told all about it by return mail. There are apparently a thousand ways by which a man can make secure his health, his job, his home and himself.

The futility of material security should, however, be apparent.... These are days when the Christian way of life offers the only real security. This security is grounded in the proposition that ultimate achievement is not to be found in this life alone but in eternal life.
