"BE STILL, AND KNOW"

In the Bible we find emphasized the need of mental stillness and quiet contemplation, which help us to gain an understanding of God. The Psalmist declared (Ps. 46:10), "Be still, and know that I am God." Here are two definite commands: "Be still," and, "Know."

The mortal, or carnal, mind is never still; it is usually too busy discussing its own everyday problems. To this so-called mind error sometimes comes quite suddenly as fear, resentment, envy, or jealousy. However the error finds entrance, the results are discord and confusion, making it somewhat difficult for one to be still or to think clearly.

Nothing can be gained by one's listening to the suggestions and false beliefs of this fictitious mind. Christian Science declares that mortal mind is unreal and that material sense must be silenced in order that one may commune with and understand God effectively.
