I was advanced in years when I took up the study of Christian Science, and although I had always been a Bible student, it was only through the reading of our weekly Lesson-Sermons from the Christian Science Quarterly that the true understanding of the Scriptures came to me.

For the past seventeen years Christian Science has been my Comforter, and many minor errors have been overcome through the reading of Science and Health alone. However, the following healing that came to me with the aid of a practitioner stands out most dearly to me.

About ten years ago I awoke one morning in a serious condition; I had a severe head disturbance and was unable to move. I was alone in the house at the time. I declared "the scientific statement of being" aloud several times (see Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, p. 468). Then I found I was able, with some effort, to walk to the hall and telephone to a practitioner.
