Reaching Mankind Through World-wide Circulation Activity

Many newcomers to Christian Science first learn of the healing power of our religion through receiving marked and sample copies of The Christian Science Monitor which circulation information committees of Churches of Christ, Scientist, and Christian Science Societies mail to selected prospects. Circulation representatives, who receive their appointments from The Christian Science Publishing Society upon recommendation of executive boards of branch churches and societies, make friendly follow-through calls either in person or by telephone. Throughout the world more than eighteen hundred and fifty of these volunteer workers are explaining the Monitor's purpose, telling of current and forthcoming features, and obtaining subscriptions.

A circulation representative from Kansas writes: "Recently a woman I had called on sent her little boy to my house asking me to come to see her. On arriving, I found her in bed quite ill. She wanted to know something more about Christian Science. I gave her some literature and at her request telephoned a Christian Science practitioner for help. When I went back the next day, she was up and feeling fine. This woman has two children and says she is going to enroll them in our Sunday School."

An Indiana circulation representative writes: "A family on which I called seemed so happy to see me. The mother said, 'I have for such a long, long time wanted to know something about Christian Science.' We talked for about an hour. I told them of many healings I had witnessed. They took a three-months subscription to the Monitor. When I stopped there again several weeks later, the daughter told me that her father had been in bed with ulcers of the stomach the day I had first called. He had not been able to eat anything. After reading some of our literature, he had given up material remedies and was eating again. The family wanted to know where they could get a copy of 'Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures' by Mary Baker Eddy."
