My very first healing through...
My very first healing through Christian Science occurred over twenty-seven years ago. After suffering for many months from ulcers of the stomach, I was healed overnight just from reading and pondering a few pages of the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health by Mary Baker Eddy. The healing came about through my realization of the truth that in reality my being is spiritual. Through the intervening years, this first healing has been to me a source of encouragement when other discordant conditions took more time to be overcome.
More recently I have experienced a healing of a spinal weakness from which I had suffered for over eight years and for which I had been obliged to have medical treatment because of family circumstances. After making a change that eliminated those circumstances, I abandoned all medical treatment and resolved to rely on Christian Science only.
A Christian Science practitioner took up the case, and because of her radical reliance on absolute Christian Science. I was healed of the condition after about three months of treatment. The healing of depression followed when I realized and demonstrated that "the sustaining infinite" was the only real help I had or needed. This phrase is from the opening sentence of the textbook, which reads (Pref., p vii), "To those leaning on the sustaining infinite, to-day is big with blessings." I am deeply grateful to God and to the practitioner for this healing.
