Many years ago I attended...
Many years ago I attended a Wednesday evening testimony meeting in a branch Church of Christ, Scientist, upon the invitation of a friend. I had never heard of Christian Science, and at that time curiosity was the only reason for my going.
I did not understand much of what was read; but I did observe the two inscriptions, one on each side of the front wall of the church. One which was by Christ Jesus stated (John 8:32), "Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free," and one which was by Mary Baker Eddy read (Science and Health, p. 494), "Divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need."
I had never read anything like this before. A great peace and calmness came over me. I then began to inquire more about this religion from my friend, and he referred me to the Christian Science textbooks, the King James Version of the Holy Bible and "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy.
