I first heard of Christian Science...
I first heard of Christian Science many years ago when a neighbor of ours was healed after doctors said he could not live. Since members of our family were always ill, my mother accepted an invitation to attend a Christian Science service. Soon after that I, together with the four other children, was enrolled in the Christian Science Sunday School, which all five of us attended until we reached the age of twenty.
I was grateful for the Sunday School teachers, who gave me a workable understanding of Christian Science. In forty-six years I have never had medical aid. My own family have also relied solely on Christian Science. Many healings have taken place over the years, including those of blood poisoning, influenza, whooping cough, scarlet fever, heart trouble, strokes, and partial blindness.
I was also healed of headaches and other conditions by holding to the ninety-first Psalm and to the "Daily Prayer," from the Manual of The Mother Church by Mrs. Eddy (Art. VIII, Sect. 4), which reads, "'Thy kingdom come;' let the reign of divine Truth, Life, and Love be established in me, and rule out of me all sin; and may Thy Word enrich the affections of all mankind, and govern them!"
