THE LAW OF HARMONY OVERCOMES DISCORD

Attending a piano concert one evening, the writer was reminded that Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, refers in a number of instances in her published works to man's harmony and compares it to harmony in music. One such statement appears in the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," and reads (p. 304), "Harmony in man is as beautiful as in music, and discord is unnatural, unreal."

Christian Science teaches that discord is unreal because God is infinite good and that harmony is the real state of being of man and the universe. As these truths are apprehended, inharmonious conditions are proved to be unreal and nonexistent.

The student of Christian Science motivated by his love of good and with a sincere desire to experience and express more harmony in his daily living must gain a right and clear concept of God, the Principle of all-harmonious being. In the measure that he does so, he is enabled to turn away from material sense testimony and to demonstrate that the harmony of God is forever included in man. When he makes it a practice to turn from false sense testimony to God, divine Principle, for the truth of God's idea, he overcomes false beliefs. Then his daily experience becomes more harmonious.
