Findlay, Ohio (First Church).

Dedication services of First Church of Christ, Scientist, Findlay Ohio, will be held Sunday. November 16, ... at 11 a.m. and 3.30 p.m. The public is invited to attend either service.

Interest in Christian Science began locally in 1905, when a small group of Christian Scientists met in private homes on Sundays to read the current Lesson-Sermon [outlined in the Christian Science Quarterly]. Three years later the group organized Christian Science Society, Findlay, and became a branch of The Mother Church, in Boston, Massachusetts. Services and meetings were held in the Ewing Building, which is now known as the Commerce Building.

The society became First Church of Christ, Scientist, Findlay, Ohio, in 1923. In 1926, a residence at 133 East Hardin Street was purchased and remodeled to meet the needs of the church. This building was sold in 1954, ... and the present site was acquired in 1956.

On May 7, 1957, construction of a new edifice was begun, and on January 12, 1958, the first service was held in it. Final work, including the laying of sidewalks and landscaping, has recently been completed.
