With the hope of encouraging someone else, I give the following experience. I had been interested in Christian Science for many years, but had never become a truly earnest student of it. One day I was shocked to realize that the thought of being healed through prayer of a hernia that had suddenly made its appearance seemed incredible. Although I lacked the understanding of how physical healing could be accomplished through spiritual means, I realized that the truth which had been planted in my consciousness was mine to use.

Active membership in a branch Church of Christ, Scientist, seemed to be a logical step in my growth Spiritward. Hopefully too I asked for the help of a Christian Science practitioner. This help made it clear that my great need was for spiritual enlightenment. So began the long journey from a state of blind belief in Christian Science to a measure of understanding of the healing Christ.

As the years passed I did not lessen my activities. However, the physical condition slowly changed from one of slight discomfort to one of suffering. One day I found it impossible to arise. I had reached the crossroads. I realized that I must either solve the problem through the power of God, divine Mind, or seek medical relief.
