Nearly forty years ago I turned...
Nearly forty years ago I turned to Christian Science for help because I was in great distress from mental depression following an operation for appendicitis and also from having been informed that I was suffering from acute Blight's disease. From the time I began to study Christian Science, despair gave place to hope and anxiety to confidence and strength.
I had the prayerful help of a Christian Science practitioner, and as I gained more understanding of Truth, the physical condition was completely healed. I had certainly touched the hem of Christ's garment. Hemorrhoids troubled me for quite a long time, but I felt that because others had experienced healing of this condition, I too could be healed. Finally I realized my complete freedom.
To anyone who may sometimes be tempted to be discouraged because a healing seems delayed, I would say, "Do not give up hope, but trust Truth to bring salvation." Does not our Leader, Mrs. Eddy, tell us in Science and Health (p. 454): "Wait patiently for divine Love to move upon the waters of mortal mind, and form the perfect concept"; and also (p. 400), "By lifting thought above error, or disease, and contending persistently for truth, you destroy error"? These truths were a source of great encouragement and strength to me.
Christian Science not only has met my physical needs, but has been of inestimable value in helping me to solve problems of supply in the bringing up of two children. It has enabled them to have college and university education, which, without the guidance and direction of Christian Science, would not have been possible.
Christian Science has richly blessed our home life. I am grateful for all the activities of the Christian Science movement, which are for the sole purpose of blessing mankind. For membership in The Mother Church and for class instruction with an authorized teacher of Christian Science, I am most grateful.—Henry Calvert Knight, West Looe, Cornwall, England.
