THE NEEDLE'S EYE

Stones that bruise the straying foot
We treasure for the lessons taught;
Allure of alien, dazzling fruit
We see to be a specious thought.

The toilsome mountain is brought low,
The crooked straightened, and the sun
Stands still for those who steadfast go
Holding Truth's path the only one.

And easier may a camel move
Through the narrowest needle's eye
Than may the counterfeit of Love
Claim divine identity.
