To have been reared in Christian Science...

To have been reared in Christian Science and to have acquired a sound spiritual foundation in the Sunday School, I count as very great blessings. In our family many healings have resulted from the correct application of Christian Science. For the support my family has given me in my own growth Spiritward and for the help of faithful practitioners and Sunday School teachers, I am humbly grateful. And I am glad that I always accepted Christian Science without ever desiring to turn elsewhere for help of any kind.

While attending a university, I was enrolled in a Christian Science Sunday School and took an active part in a Christian Science organization. But at the same time I was apathetic in my study of the Bible and our textbook, Science and Health by Mary Baker Eddy, and I neglected to put into consistent practice the truths I had learned. I applied this Science only in times of more extreme need.

At the beginning of my junior year, I found that mental depression and accompanying fears over physical symptoms were beginning to overwhelm me. It seemed that my health and well-being were collapsing, resulting in loss of weight, sleep, and peace of mind.

The one individual to whom I had first hoped to turn, my Sunday School teacher, left on an extended trip shortly after I found myself in need of help; so for the first time I realized that I had to turn wholeheartedly to God and begin to work out my own salvation. There was only one practitioner in the town at the time, and I am very grateful for the help received from her while I remained there.

My gratitude for the Bible and for all of the writings of Mrs. Eddy is unbounded. I spent every possible moment studying them for healing. I am also grateful for the Christian Science periodicals, which I read consistently.

One time, when I felt as though I might lose consciousness or even pass on, I found healing through clinging steadfastly to the truths I was reading in an article in The Christian Science Journal. I thank God for sustaining me through some alarming situations.

Finally, I was attending classes less and less, and my grades were steadily dropping; so I decided to continue to work this problem out at home. There, I immediately sought the help of a practitioner, and I gained considerable comfort and peace. I had to study and work diligently in order to progress in overcoming the many false beliefs which held me in bondage, but I continued to grow stronger until my complete healing came.

The purification that attended each step in my healing has been most gratifying. Although progress seemed slow, it was steady. Membership in a branch Church of Christ, Scientist, and the opportunity it afforded me at this time to serve the Cause of Christian Science brought renewed strength and some release from a false sense of self.

Just before my last year of college, I had the joy of being married, and two and a half years later I had the glorious opportunity of having class instruction. This whole experience has been one of great growth and has made me very grateful for every opportunity to demonstrate the laws of God as they are revealed by Mrs. Eddy in Christian Science.—(Mrs.) Sally Cole Gorman, Carmichael, California.

I am very grateful to verify my daughter's testimony. It was a happifying experience to witness her steadfast adherence to Christian Science and to see her gradually gain health and freedom, as well as a firmer understanding of this Science.

Christian Science has been of inestimable help to me for many years in our home and in our business activity. I am deeply grateful to Mrs. Eddy for her revelation of the truth and for every aspect of the Christian Science movement.
