It is a great joy to me to give my testimony regarding all the blessings I have received through Christian Science. My parents were of Huguenot background, and they taught us from our early childhood to read the Bible, to attend church, and to pray daily. Nevertheless, in spite of our sincerity, we were confronted with all sorts of difficulties in everyday life: the precarious circumstances of the family, the loss of our money, the war, with its dangers and anxieties.

I myself had from my teens been in poor health. Due to a diseased condition of the bones, I spent most of my time stretched out on a chaise longue. From a nursing home, I went to a place for fresh-air treatment, always hoping to find a more effective remedy than before, but without success. After I had had several operations, an eminent surgeon finally informed my parents that the case was incurable.

It was through our visiting with relatives that Christian Science was presented to us. My aunt urged my mother to read Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. She assured us that I would find in it the comfort and healing which were so much needed. Then she lent us the textbook. A consecrated practitioner came to see us, and she showed us how to read the Lesson-Sermons from the Christian Science Quarterly.
